Upper Pitt Street, Kirribilli.
A very ordinary 1940’s brick building housing 8 one bedroom units and 1 ground floor studio apartment, presented incredible potential to capitilise on it’s enviable harbourside location, boasting 180deg views of the Sydney harbour bridge and opera house.
Inventive, and thoroughly thought out internal planning transformed the existing building to house 8 two bedroom apartments, as well as a two bedroom ground floor apartment.
After extensive and on going negotiation with North Sydney Council’s planners and heritage officers a new steel structure was approved to provide the added bonus of outdoor terraces from each unit.
Adroit detailing of the balconies and balcony structure led to successful solutions to achieving the required fire separation between units. Attractive cedar screens aim to avoid overlooking from the new balconies into the neighbouring apartment buildings.
